What is a Prompt?
Prompts are customer conversations. Spend time to understand which conversations you should be mentioned in.

Prompts
Think of prompts as customer conversations. Each prompt is a question a real customer might ask when looking for a business like yours. Things like "best dentist in London for emergency appointments" or "where can I get my car serviced near me."
How prompts are written
We define prompts come in three tiers. Broad prompts test general category discovery, like "best dentist in Oslo." Focused prompts test specific intent, like "emergency dentist open Sunday." Conversational prompts test fuller, natural-language queries, like "I need a dentist who speaks English and takes new patients this week."
All three matter. Broad prompts show whether AI knows you exist in the category. Focused and conversational prompts show whether AI surfaces you for the specific reasons customers actually search.
How many prompts you need
On Doory you need at least 4 active prompts to run a scan, up to a maximum limit defined by your subscription plan.
Spend time to refine your prompts. Better to have 10 prompts covering different angles than 20 covering the same one. Be specific and ask questions your target customers are likely to ask.
When to add or change prompts
If a prompt consistently shows neither you nor your competitors, it may be too generic or phrased in a way AI doesn't engage with. In this case you can consider replacing it with something more specific.
If a prompt consistently shows competitors but not you, that's not a reason to remove it. That's the most useful kind of prompt. It tells you where the gap is.
